Expanded Architecture began as a sell-out architecture film festival and panel discussion in November 2010 at Performance Space, Carriageworks, Sydney. It brought together the films from over 40 local and international artists and architects, concentrating on the intersections of avant-garde film, expanded cinema and architecture.
As part of the Sydney Architecture Festival, Expanded Architecture 2011 invited proposals for collaborative, site-specific moving image projections and filmic installations. Selected proposals were part of an exciting one night only exhibition in the inspirational foyer space of CarriageWorks, Sydney on Wednesday October 26th 2011.
The invitation was open to artists, film-makers, architects, design professionals and students or anyone that is interested in architecture, art and film. Submissions proposed site-specific moving-image projection installations, responding to the foyer of CarriageWorks, or its immediate urban context.
We are pleased to announce the selection of the following artists for EA2011, who created new site specific works for one night only: 26th October 2011 at CarriageWorks Sydney:
